One credit limit you can use more than once.

Dottra gives you a credit limit after we check who you are and what you can afford. You draw from it when you need to, pay it back when you can, and draw again.

What you get

A credit facility with one limit. Inside the app you can always see your credit limit, your available credit (the part you can still draw), and your outstanding balance.

You don't apply each time you need money. Once your limit is set, a draw takes a few seconds and goes to the mobile money number registered in your name.

Draw the amount you need

You choose the amount: anything from K10 up to your available credit, to the ngwee. There are no fixed packages to pick from.

Before you confirm, the app shows how much will be added to your balance, the processing fee, and exactly how much will arrive on mobile money. You confirm with your PIN or fingerprint.

Pay back on your schedule

You can pay any amount from K10 (or the full balance, if it's less), on any day, from mobile money. As you pay back what you drew, your available credit goes back up.

The monthly charge is worked out on your average daily balance, so paying back earlier costs less. There's no charge for paying early.

One statement a month

If you owe anything at the end of a calendar month, the app produces a statement. It lists your draws, payments and the monthly charge, and gives a payment due date 7 days after the statement date.

If you owe nothing, there's no statement and no charge.

What it costs

  • A processing fee of 5% of each draw, minimum K1, taken from the amount you receive.
  • A monthly charge of 20% of your average daily balance for the month.
  • No sign-up, membership or late fees.

If a statement goes overdue

If a statement isn't paid by the end of its due date, the facility is temporarily frozen. You can't draw while it's frozen, but you can still pay. Once the overdue amount is paid, it unfreezes automatically.

What Dottra is not

It's not a savings account, and it's not meant for borrowing over many months. It works best for short gaps: a cost that arrives before your salary or allowance does, which you can pay back within a few weeks.

If you find yourself drawing every month to cover the same shortfall, that's a budget problem that credit will make worse. Our guide to using a credit facility without falling behind covers this.

Security

Every draw needs your PIN or fingerprint. Money is only ever sent to the mobile money number registered in your name. The app doesn't ask for access to your contacts, photos or messages.

Dottra staff will never ask for your PIN, password or a one-time code, by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email.
